about RD4U
RD4U is a website developed by Cruse Bereavement Care's Youth Involvement Project which aims to support young people, after the death of someone close to them. We believe that the best way of doing this is to involve young people in planning, developing and delivering services.
RD4U means the 'road for you'. Everyone reacts differently to a death and we're not here to tell you how you should be acting or feeling.
If someone you know has died you could use our site to find out how others
in your situation have coped - read their experiences in the personal
section, share your thoughts and feelings on the message
board, offer advice to others and look at ideas for coping. The main
aim of the site is to let you find your own 'road' to dealing with your
loss.
If you want a break from all of this, go to the fun
zone and play one of our new games.
RD4U Web Development Team
The RD4U Development Team meet to develop and guide the progress of this site because we believe that the best way to support young people's needs is to have young people planning, developing, reviewing and contributing to all parts of the project.
- We are a group of young people including trained volunteers, and young
people who have experienced bereavement.
- We are aged between 16 and 25 years old, both male and female members and we are from a diverse range of religious and cultural backgrounds.
- We bring to the group a range of skills and experiences with which to enhance to project.
- You can see photos of the first steering committee meeting and our night out
for Pizza in the Gallery.
- We meet on a regular basis to discuss the progress and development of the website.
- We aim to create an open friendly forum where we don't judge others.
- Everyone has the right to a voice and an opinion and we listen to each other.

Who are Cruse Bereavement Care?
Cruse is a national charity, which helps people cope after someone close to them has died. It does this by offering free information, support and counselling.
What is the Youth Involvement Project?
The Youth Involvement Project is part of Cruse Bereavement Care, and
is there specifically for young people who have been affected by someone's
death.
It was formed because we want to make sure that we are offering the right
kind of support to young people.
We have developed different ways of supporting young people after someone
close to them has died. These include this website, the freephone number
and peer support. If you have any comments or suggestions, then email
us at info@rd4u.org.uk.
What is Bereavement?
Bereavement means simply losing someone through death. It could be one of your parents, grandparents, brothers or sisters, teachers, friends. Anyone who is important to you. The feelings you can have after a bereavement can be scary and confusing.
However you might feel, it is important you get the right kind of support. That's what the Youth Involvement Project is about.
